One year later: from a spark of inspiration to a storybook reality
It was about one year ago today that Tessa came to me with the idea for our first book. I knew it was a hit. By the second time I read her work, ideas came rushing to me for the first character, Jessie. By the third, I could nail the cadence enough to read it to my family as if I were presenting a TED Talk.
One year later, and we’re ready to wrap up our final draft.
Our goal with Silly Little Bedtime Stories is to inspire the imaginations of young dreamers and provide parents with a reliable and trustworthy recreational and developmental resource. We've adored every part of this adventure so far.
Tessa has written a brilliant 45-line poem divided into three distinct sections. Each section begins with a variation of the introduction:
Silly little bedtime story
Read to babies
Leave them snoring
While each verse is consistent and catchy, they also bring new twists that drive monstrously fun adventures.
I had a great time illustrating—I hope my full-color illustrations capture the heart of this expressive story. I learned to play with both single-panel and multi-panel pages and enjoyed poring over them as I worked late at night for months.
This project has been a labor of love, blending rhythmic storytelling with vibrant visuals to create a bedtime experience that's both entertaining and enriching. As we prepare to share Silly Little Bedtime Stories with the world, we're filled with gratitude for the journey and excitement for what's to come.
Stay tuned for updates on our publishing journey and release dates. We can't wait to bring our story into your homes and hearts.
